Scholarship Program
Each year, SaskBarley invests in the next generation of barley researchers through scholarships for Canadian university students pursuing graduate studies improving the barley sector. These scholarships help ensure a strong future for barley by supporting the people who will drive its continued success.
We’re proud to continue our partnership with Labatt Breweries of Canada to expand our support for graduate students.
Applications are now open for 2026.
The application deadline is October 2, 2026.
Successful applicants will be notified by November 20th.
Graduate Student Scholarships
Supported by Labatt Breweries of Canada
Graduate students across Canada conducting research that benefits Saskatchewan barley farmers are eligible for SaskBarley’s graduate scholarships. SaskBarley has a partnership with Labatt Breweries of Canada to increase the number of scholarships offered at the $6,000 PhD level and $4,000 MSc level.
The application deadline is October 2, 2026.
Undergraduate Student Scholarship
SaskBarley also offers one $2,000 undergraduate scholarship to fourth-year College of Agriculture and Bioresources students at the University of Saskatchewan. Eligible students must be writing an undergraduate thesis focused on barley.
