SaskBarley Announces 2023 Director Elections

Industry News, News

On behalf of the board directors, SaskBarley (Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission) has announced that it will hold an election this fall to choose three new members for the Board of Directors.

“These dedicated candidates stepping up to represent Saskatchewan barley shows the strength of our industry and the shared commitment for a profitable future,” said SaskBarley chair Keith Rueve.

Upon closing of the nominations period, there were four nominees for the three open positions. The nominees are, in alphabetical order: Chad Ferguson, Naicam SK, Gordon Moellenbeck, Englefeld SK, Matt Enns, Rosthern SK and Thomas Sunderland, Quill Lake SK. Three of the candidates are new faces to SaskBarley, while Enns is seeking a second term.

“We encourage all registered producers to review the candidates’ bios and vision for the future and vote in the upcoming election,” added Rueve. “Having a broad perspective of views and experience from the feed barley side to the dedicated malt grower is important to help shape the future of the barley industry in Saskatchewan“.

Voting materials will be mailed to all registered barley producers in Saskatchewan with voting open October 19th, 2023. More information on our candidates will be available in upcoming newsletters, future episodes of The Barley Bin podcast, and at saskbarley.com.

The voting period will close on Nov. 29, 2023 at 4 pm, with election results being announced in mid- December.
