SaskBarley invests in strategic partnerships with provincial and national groups to amplify the voice of barley farmers.
Agriculture in the Classroom – Saskatchewan
SaskBarley is a member of Agriculture in the Classroom-SK, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to agricultural education. Every year, it inspires more than 70,000 youth in Saskatchewan to gain a deeper understanding of and develop a stronger connection to the food production system, while also fostering their aspirations to potentially join the industry in the future.
Canadian Barley Research Coalition
The Canadian Barley Research Coalition (CBRC) is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the profitability and competitiveness of western Canadian barley through long-term research investments.
Founded by the Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission, Alberta Grains, and the Manitoba Crop Alliance, CBRC works collaboratively across the entire barley value chain.
Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre
SaskBarley and the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre (CMBTC) share a strong, collaborative relationship centered on supporting Canada’s malting barley value chain—from field to glass. SaskBarley invests in research, variety development, and market development initiatives that complement CMBTC’s technical expertise in malt and brewing performance evaluation and market development. Together, we work to promote Canadian malting barley domestically and internationally, ensuring Saskatchewan producers have access to high-quality, market-ready varieties that meet the needs of global maltsters and brewers. This partnership strengthens Canada’s reputation as a world leader in malting barley quality and consistency.
Cereals Canada
SaskBarley is a member of Cereals Canada, a national, not-for-profit organization that supports the Canadian cereal grains value chain—including farmers, exporters, processors, and global customers—through advocacy, technical expertise, and market development. Headquartered in Winnipeg, it operates six specialized labs and provides training, research, and support to promote Canadian wheat, barley, and oats. The organization works to ensure market access, uphold quality standards, and foster sustainability. With initiatives like the Canadian Wheat Nutrition Initiative and the Habitat-Friendly Winter Wheat Ecolabel, it also boosts domestic demand. Looking ahead, Cereals Canada plans to launch the Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (Gate), a cutting-edge facility to advance innovation and maintain Canada’s leadership in global grain markets.
Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan
SaskBarley supports Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan, a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to building public trust in food and farming. Their work bolsters our ability as an industry to meet the challenges of food security, climate change, and sustainability in farming practices. By showing Canadians how the agriculture sector is sustainable, caring, and innovative, we can change consumer attitudes and behaviors, government regulations and public policy.
Grain Growers of Canada
SaskBarley became a member of Grain Growers of Canada in 2025. As the national voice for Canada’s grain farmers, Grain Growers of Canada (GGC) represents over 70,000 producers through 14 national, provincial and regional grower groups. As the farmer-driven association for the grains sector, GGC champions federal policies that support the competitiveness and profitability of grain growers across Canada.
The Saskatchewan Crop Commissions (SaskCrops)
SaskCrops, consisting of SaskBarley, SaskOilseeds, Sask Oats, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, and Sask Wheat, represents virtually all Saskatchewan grain, oilseed and pulse farmers.
The SaskCrops commissions work together to ensure that Saskatchewan farmers have their voices heard by governments in order to remain competitive in the global market and profitable at the on-farm level. SaskCrops advocates for science-based policy to create and maintain an efficient, predictable, and sustainable business environment for Saskatchewan farmers.
