SaskBarley welcomes new and returning directors to the Board
September 8, 2025 (Saskatoon, SK) – SaskBarley announced today that the three positions up for election on its Board of Directors have been filled by acclamation. Returning to the Board are Maurice Berry of Carievale, SK and Cody Glenn of Climax, SK. New Director, Bernie McClean of Glaslyn, SK will complete the board of six. Their four-year terms will officially begin immediately following SaskBarley’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on January 14, 2026.
“We are pleased to welcome Bernie to the Board, and to have Cody and Maurice return for another term” said Jillian McDonald, Executive Director of SaskBarley. “Their leadership and experience will help guide our work as we continue to invest in research, develop new markets, and support growers across Saskatchewan.
Maurice Berry
Maurice Berry farms with his family near Carievale in southeast Saskatchewan, where barley has long been an important and profitable part of their crop rotation. Berry has also served in leadership roles with the Southeast Research Farm, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, and the Redvers and District Marketing Club. His experience and commitment to ensuring producer profitability, fostering relationships, investing levy responsibly and ensuring sustainability for barley growers continues to benefit SaskBarley.


Cody Glenn
Current SaskBarley Chair, Cody Glenn is a fourth-generation farmer and certified seed grower from southwest Saskatchewan. He is the founder of Southline Ag, a company providing custom farming, grain handling, cleaning, and trucking services. His widespread involvement and hands-on experience across various aspects of agriculture positions Cody as a seasoned voice in the barley industry. Cody is eager to continue to contribute to the industry’s growth and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of empowering growers and fostering stronger connections across the value chain.
Bernie McClean
Bernie McClean farms with his wife Cara, their children, and grandchildren near Glaslyn in northwest Saskatchewan. Their farm produces barley, wheat, oats, canola, and hay, with plans to reintroduce pulse crops. The operation also partners with a neighbor to raise bison. McClean has been active in agriculture for nearly three decades and has served on boards including SaskCanola, the Canadian Canola Growers Association, and the Canola Council of Canada. He is passionate about research and collaboration across the agriculture sector, and is committed to supporting grower priorities and ensuring Saskatchewan farmers remain competitive and sustainable.
