News

Saskatoon, SK (March 1, 2024) Calling all farmers, barley enthusiasts, and brewing aficionados! Prepare to immerse yourselves in the fascinating world of malt production at the highly anticipated Producer Malt Academy. Hosted by SaskBarley and the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre (CMBTC), this two-day event promises to be an educational and enriching experience for all attendees.

Scheduled to take place on March 20 – 21, 2024 at the Sheraton Cavalier in Saskatoon, SK, the Producer Malt Academy offers a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of malting barley, its end uses, and the field-to-glass secrets behind crafting the perfect beer.

Participants will have the chance to engage with industry experts and uncover the mysteries behind malting barley agronomy, production, and marketing. From field to brewery, attendees will gain invaluable insights into specialty malts and brewing techniques that are essential for producing exceptional brews.

One of the highlights of the event is the complimentary access for SaskBarley producers, allowing them to enhance their knowledge and skills in producing malt-quality barley without any financial barrier. Non-registered producers and other industry professionals can attend for $125.

“We are thrilled to bring the Producer Malt Academy back to Saskatoon,” said Mitchell Japp, Research and Extension Manager at SaskBarley. “This event is designed to give producers a greater understanding of the malting industry and what production practices can help them attain the desirable malt qualities.”
