SaskBarley’s 2024 Graduate and Undergraduate Scholarship Applications are Now Open
Securing the future of the barley industry by supporting students
(June 3, 2024 – Saskatoon, SK) The Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley) offers up to four scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students each year.
SaskBarley’s scholarships are an investment in promising university students who are carrying out research focused on barley. The scholarship program also encourages and supports new research to benefit Saskatchewan’s barley sector.
“The University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources puts out quality graduates that have significant positive impacts on the Canadian agriculture industry as a whole,” said SaskBarley Executive Director, Jill McDonald. “We value our connection with this local institution and the researchers who dedicate themselves to advancements in barley production. The scholarship program supports the next generation of barley researchers who are already contributing to our industry.”
Graduate students across Canada are eligible for SaskBarley’s graduate scholarships, as long as their research benefits Saskatchewan barley farmers. This year SaskBarley is offering up to three graduate scholarships, awarding $6,000 at the PhD level and $4,000 at the MSc level.
SaskBarley also offers an undergraduate scholarship to fourth-year College of Agriculture and Bioresources students at the University of Saskatchewan. Eligible students must be writing an undergraduate thesis focused on barley.
This year, one $2,000 undergraduate scholarship is available, in addition to the graduate scholarships.
Applications will be accepted from Monday, June 3, 2024 to Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 4 pm CST. Successful applicants will be notified by November 12, 2024.
